Blue Mountain coffee is the Arabica Typica beans. Blue Mountain provides the best conditions for the Arabica to thrive. It has cool and humid climates with lots of rainfall and excellent drainage. It is cultivated at altitudes of 3,000 – 5,500 feet in rich soil. At this elevation they get plenty of time to develop their rich flavours, for which the coffee is lauded.

Check for the seal, it is a blue circle with the words “Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee” inside. Another hint may be the price; if it is cheap, then chances are it is not 100% certified Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee. Some coffees marked as Blue Mountain coffee are actually blends” this means that the product may contain 10-20% of Blue Mountain coffee, the other 80-90% are a mixture of other coffees. Use cold, filtered water that tastes good for best results and a clean machine. Grind only as much as you need for one cup or one pot of coffee: fine for espresso, medium for automatic drip and coarse for French Press. 

Next, measure the grounded coffee – two levels per 6oz of filtered water.

Instructions:

After measuring the ground beans, bring the water to a boil and let rest for 30 seconds.

Add the grinded Blue Mountain Coffee to hot water

Steep for 4 minutes

Press the filter down slowly
